History

The Millennium Monument is linked to the 1896 commemoration of the Magyar arrival. A central column and semicircular colonnades organise history into a sequence of figures. This is a state-shaped presentation of memory from a particular period, not every resident’s neutral chronicle. Gabriel’s statue was removed for restoration in 2024; its presence in an older image does not establish the column-top view on your visit date.
