National Library of Tatarstan
Walk up from the river to the terrace. If the library is open, step into the lobby and compare the views towards the Kazanka and Sultan-Galiyev Square.

Getting there
Kremlin Embankment › Riverside promenade › Library’s riverside entrance › 86 Pushkina Street
Keep walking beside the water, away from the Kremlin towards the Millennium Bridge. When the library and a tall column with a winged figure rise above the bank on your right, climb to the terrace. There is a library entrance on the river side.
Inside is the Min coffee shop. By the panoramic windows, look for the white Kremlin walls where your day began.

History
The library began with the private collection of Kazan booklover Ivan Vtorov. His nearly two thousand volumes of books and periodicals formed the basis of the city’s public library, which opened in 1865. In 2020 the library moved into the former Kazan National Cultural Centre on Pushkina Street. Its lofty lobby opens onto Sultan-Galiyev Square and towards the Kazanka. Books share the building with an exhibition hall, a performance space and a music area with a collection of vinyl records.
