History

In 1922 Yevgeny Vakhtangov staged Princess Turandot. His actors performed Carlo Gozzi’s fairy tale in a style that openly played with the conventions of theatre. The production was revived, and its imagery endured on this stage for decades. Today you can meet its heroine before buying a ticket, at the fountain beside the façade.
