Kozya Sloboda Metro Station

Look down the platform along the angled metal columns. Then head up to street level towards Festival Boulevard.

Getting there

Kremlyovskaya metro station › Kremlyovskaya › One stop under the Kazanka › Kozya Sloboda › Exit 3

Board a train towards Aviastroitelnaya. Get off one stop later at Kozya Sloboda and take exit 3 towards Dekabristov Street and Festival Boulevard. Check in above ground, a little further along the boulevard on the square outside Tatmedia.

Compare the two platforms. Mosaics stretch overhead at Kremlyovskaya, while Kozya Sloboda has a modern, high-tech design.

History

Until late 2010 the metro ended at the Kremlin, short of the river. Reaching the north bank meant driving two tunnels beneath the Kazanka. Work on the new station began in 2006. The tunnels to Kremlyovskaya were built in 2009. Kozya Sloboda opened to passengers on 30 December 2010. Heavy snow was falling and the mayor remarked how timely the new river crossing was. Kazan’s seventh station has distinctive slanting metal columns. Its name remembers a much older settlement across the river.
