From the central arch, follow the paths across the square to the Kazanka. At the water, turn right onto the promenade with the river on your left. Look back now and then as the Kremlin hill comes into view.
Cafés and kiosks line the promenade. Pick up some tea and find a bench facing the opposite bank.

History
This riverside promenade began with a piece of engineering: the Fedoseyevskaya embankment protects the Kazanka’s left bank from erosion. During reconstruction, walking and cycling paths were laid between Baturina Street and the former Kazan cultural centre, now the National Library. By spring 2015 there were metal railings, lighting, fountains and irrigated planting beds. Walking towards the library, notice the parallel paths beside the water. One is for pedestrians, the other is usually busy with bicycles and skaters.
